Starting Reception
Choosing your child's first school is a very important decision. We have created this prospectus to give you a better idea of what values underpin the education at Deeplish.
We believe that school readiness is about more than just knowing letters and numbers — it's about helping children feel confident, curious, and excited to learn. We value the strong foundations built at home and in early years settings, and we work closely with families to support every child’s transition into school life.
Alongside the Rochdale Family Hub offer for children below school age, we have carefully created a transition package that we hope will ensure that all children are ready to flourish and enjoy their journey into education at Deeplish Primary Academy. Part of our transition includes stay and play sessions, three part-time days which build up in time and then a full time start for all children from week two in September.

We use a project called Get Ready with Teddy to encourage your child to engage in ten developmentally appropriate tasks over the summer holiday before starting Reception. All information is shared with parents in July before their child starts school in September. Each child is given their own Teddy to care for and a booklet of activities.
